Narcotics (Narcotic Drugs)

Narcotics generally refer to coca leaves, opium, cannabis, and every other substance neither chemically nor physically distinguishable from them; any other drugs the importation, exportation, or possession of which is prohibited, regulated, or limited under the federal narcotic laws presently in force and effect may now apply; and any drug found to have an addiction-forming or addiction-sustaining liability similar to morphine or cocaine.

The United States Code, Title 21, Section 802 defines the term ''narcotic drug'' as any of the following whether produced directly or indirectly by extraction from substances of vegetable origin, or independently by means of chemical synthesis, or by a combination of extraction and chemical synthesis:
